How Long Does the Porcelain Veneers Process Take?

Houston Porcelain Veneer Patient | Dr. Ronald Konig, DDSPlacing porcelain veneers will require two visits, spaced one to two weeks apart, to complete. During your first visit, Houston cosmetic dentist Dr. Ronald Konig will carefully prepare the teeth that are being fitted with veneers by contouring the enamel. After teeth have been prepared, an impression of the teeth will be made and temporary veneers will be placed.

The mockup of your smile will be sent to a trusted dental lab where your porcelain veneers will be created exactly to Dr. Konig’s specifications. Once these customized veneers have been created, you will return to out office to have them placed. The process of creating veneers can take up to two weeks depending on various factors, but from start to finish, most porcelain veneer procedures can be completed within 14 days.

How Long do Porcelain Veneers Last?

Porcelain veneers can last for ten or more years when cared for properly. This makes a one to two week waiting period for their completion worth it for most patients. You can extend the life expectancy of your veneers by taking care of them, which will include:

  • Using a soft bristled toothbrush and a non-abrasive toothpaste to brush your teeth after every meal and snack
  • Flossing before you brush your teeth in the morning and again at night
  • Not biting or chewing hard candy, ice, and similar consumables
  • Not biting or chewing non-food items like pens and fingernails
  • Visiting Dr. Konig every six months for examinations

During your routinely scheduled visits, Dr. Konig will carefully examine your teeth to ensure your veneers are in top shape. If adjustments are necessary, arrangements can be made during these visits to ensure continued function and beauty from your veneers.

Veneers are stain and scratch resistant, but they can be damaged if you are not mindful of how you treat them. Treat your veneers like your natural teeth and everything should be fine.

Can Veneers be Replaced?

Veneers can be replaced individually. If one of your veneers becomes damaged or dingy, it can be replaced on its own. If several need replaced at once, that too can be arranged. Veneers are versatile and complementary to other types of restorations and can be modified as needed to help ensure continued results.

Our family loves Dr Konig and his entire staff. They are all so friendly & helpful every time we go. I was a dental hygienist during my career and know good dentistry from bad, and this is the best you can get at a reasonable price. On a side note, one of my favorite things to see every time I go is the wonderful artwork Mrs. Konig has displayed on the walls of his office. They are truly a family of great artist!
