Houston Dental Implant Dentist: Can Dental Implants look like Natural Teeth

Houston Dental Implant Dentist, Ronald W. Konig DDS, FAGD, LVIF discusses patients concerns that their dental implants may not look like natural teeth. Dental implants are an art and science and when restored can look beautiful giving patients their smiles back. Most of the big implant companies, such as Nobel Biocare are constantly doing research to allow us to continually improve the results. The science of making implants appear natural involves more than just placing the dental implant in the bone and making a crown.  Some important factors to consider especially on a single dental implant case are:

  1. The type of the implant placed and the location of where it is placed in the bone
  2. The management of the soft tissue, or the gums, of where it is placed.
  3. The use of a custom abutment to create natural contours
  4. The ability of the dentist to artistically custom shade the implant crown

The above photo shows the results of a case where all these factors were planned and implemented. The front tooth on the your right is the implant. Not all patients want all their teeth changed, some just want the missing tooth replaced and to have it match their other teeth.
