There are multiple benefits to correcting the bite prior to restoring teeth eliminating the need for surgery in most cases. This is often called Non-Surgical Bite Correction. This also works well for patients who have already had surgery and braces and are not happy with the results.

Dr. Konig explains, “Correcting the bite to the correct physiologic position before any treatment, allows the patients to “test drive” the new alignment and see how it changes their facial profiles, lip lines, esthetics, TMJ pain, and even sleep.”
Some Benefits of Non-surgical Bite Correction are:
-Correcting small chins
-Improved facial symmetry and proportions
-Correcting the lower 1/3 of the face
-Eliminating TMJ pain
Small or retruded chins: overbites push the lower jaw creating the appearance of a small chin. This also has the effect of an unhealthy profile. With our non-surgical overbite treatment allows us to reposition the lower jaw to a healthier and corrected physiologic position. This corrects the overbite and associated issues of worn teeth, airway problems, and poor profile at the same time changing the lower 1/3 of the face as well. This reverses aging and the appearance of a short face.
Protruded Chin or Underbites:
Improved facial symmetry and proportions: Bite correction cannot be achieved with porcelain veneers alone. Most of the time, it is possible to realign the face for symmetry, this most often happens naturally when neuromuscular or physiologic dentistry is utilized to position the lower jaw in the corrected physiologic position. With this procedure, the muscles, jaw joints, neck and jaw position are evaluated and part of the equation. Simply looking at teeth will not allow for this correction. This allows for greatly improved cosmetic results that improves facial proportions and better shaped faces with a beautiful smile.
Correcting the lower 1/3 face: Utilizing advanced physiologic bite management principles and methodology, repositioning the lower jaw to its correct position allows for an improved lower 1/3 of the face especially in overbite and underbite cases without surgery
TMJ Pain: So many patients with bad bites have TMJ Pain. TMJ pain can also cause ear pain, neck pain, headaches, worn teeth, sleep apnea, and many other issues. Dr. Konig emphasizes that taking all these in consideration and working with the jaw, neck, and facial muscles is a solution that corrects many of these TMJ pain patterns and degeneration. It is possible to correct TMJ issues and create a healthier smile.
