Cosmetic dentistry is an artform and can be used in many ways.  In this case, porcelain veneers were used to design a new smile for the upper teeth which were worn and crooked as well as discolored.  The lower teeth were recontoured to help improve stability and esthetics.

After Porcelain Veneers

It is easy to see how the smile tilted to the left side and that the veneers were designed for the patients smile line to create a straighter and more attractive smile.  Layering of the porcelain was also used to create more natural esthetics.  Additionally, it is easy to see that more teeth show when she smiles and has a more youthful appearance as well.  All these factors are considered and planned in advance with smile designs.

With these types of cases, we actually fabricate provisionals from a case prep so that the patient's have an opportunity to "test drive" the size and shape of the teeth as well as get an idea of the shade range they desire.
