Dental Bonding vs Porcelain Veneers

Spaces between Front Teeth

Dental Bonding utilized to Close Spaces

There are usually several options when it comes to cosmetic dentists offering treatment for closing spaces for patients.  Porcelain veneers can be beautiful and skillfully utilized to close spaces such as that in the photo above. However, a more conservative cosmetic dentistry treatment in this case would be to use artistic dental bonding.

Advantages in this case for dental bonding are that absolutely no grinding of the natural tooth is needed. We used a “blend” technique in which multiple shades were used to create the bonding that disappears onto the natural tooth so that the whole tooth does not have to covered.  With a porcelain veneers, whether Lumineers or other very thin minimal prep veneers were used, some tooth reduction would have been necessary or the teeth will have appeared too large.

When considering closing spaces or any other cosmetic dentistry, it is always a good choice to discuss all options and see which is best for you.
