Scientists have used stem cells in a mouse’s mouth to generate an entirely new tooth. This is truly amazing and promising. The researchers at Tokyo University of Science created a set of cells that contained genetic instructions to build a tooth, then implanted this i not the mouses empty tooth socket. Amazingly the tooth grew out of the socket as a natural tooth would. No attempts on humans has been attempted. Whereas this probably way off into the future, hopefully someday this will allow dentists to use these “tooth germ” as opposed to implants.
In the meantime, advanced dental care has excellent technology utilizing implants to replace missing teeth. Implants can be used to replace a single missing tooth or an entire denture. When properly planned and placed this can be completed in a very short time.
