Not Everyone Needs Ten Porcelain Veneers for a Beautiful Smile

There are multiple ways to improve the smile with cosmetic dentistry. It is essential that the cosmetic dentist listen to the patients needs and desires. This case shows a gentleman who was concerned about the esthetics of his front four teeth, several which were severely worn and an old crown on another.  He wanted to be very conservative and desired a very natural smile, not Hollywood White. Several options were discussed to achieve this.

Before: Broken, discolored, and worn front teeth
veneers
After: the front four teeth cosmetically changed with veneers and a crown

Treatment consisted 3 conservative porcelain veneers and a new ceramic crown to replace the existing crown that was unsightly.  We had the patient whiten his teeth prior to treatment so as to design the veneers a more attractive shade.  The veneers and crown were mapped to artistically blend in with his natural teeth.  Note the layers of shading and translucence along with striations in the veneers.

The lower teeth were recontoured so as to improve the bite and function for long term stability.

The results show a very happy gentleman with a very natural and attractive smile!

This case shows that not everyone needs 8-10 veneers.  We often see patients come in who were only given this option and not the options to do less veneers to achieve a beautiful result.

Many are also missing the advanced techniques of no prep veneers or minimal prep veneers as reflected in the case below.  This allows us to save your natural teeth and make ultra-thin veneers that look gorgeous too. Not all cases can be done this way, however, many can with proper smile design.
