Houston TMJ Dentist: Skipping Breakfast can cause increase in heart disease and health issues   Houston TMJ Dentist, Ronald W. Konig DDS,FAGD,LVIF, found an interesting research article in the American Heart Association Journal that states skipping breakfast may increase coronary heart disease risk.  This research was tracked for 16 years on almost 27,000 male health professionals 45-82.  Briefly they found that men who skipped breakfast had a 27% higher risk of heart attack or death from heart disease than those who did not.  The conclusion is skipping breakfast may lead to more risk factors, including obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes which can lead to heart problems later on. Eric Rimm, Sc.D, who is an associate professor at Harvard Medical School, said his group spent decades studying this and it suggest that overall dietary habits  can be important to lower this risk of coronary heart disease.   This is important in dentistry, as many practices such as ours, focuses on overall health for their patients. Risk factors can be exacerbated by gum disease and TMJ by additional body stresses.  If you have any questions regarding Houston TMJ or TMJ Houston, please feel free to call our office, Ronald W.
