In fact, there are such vast differences that it can be mind boggling to the novice trying to understand world of implant dentistry.  These differences can truly affect the long term prognosis and longevity of your implant.  There are brands of implants that when correctly placed can minimize the loss of bone around your implant through the years.  Different brands have differences types of connections that are used to hold the crowns in place.  The type of connection is what is very often  responsible for bone loss around the neck of the implant.  Many connections have microleakage which allows bacteia to ebb to the inside of the implant and then cause bone loss.  This bone loss is one of the most common reasons for implant failure.  These effects will most likely not be seen for years after the implants are placed.  The good news that using proper implants can minimize or eliminate this problem.

There are several implant brands are designed differently such as Astra, Ankylos, and Implant One and Exacone that have been designed eliminate this bone loss at around the neck of your implant.

With today's technology and virtual planning; implants can be successfully placed and restored.  However, proper implant selection is essential along with other factors such as the angle of the implants and how the bite or occlusion is adjusted.
