I have just returned from a 3 day symposium for the International Academy of Comprehensive Aesthetics. This is truly a unique organization that sets its goals to be a dynamic cosmetic dentistry organization that serves to “fuse” contributions from various disciplines in dentistry to better serve our patients. Many facets of dental care were covered from new and advanced techniques in neuromuscular dentistry to new white filling techniques. The beauty of this type of meeting is that it keeps the astute dentist up to date in many areas and serves as a platfom to differentiate the good technology from the bad as well. Some of the interesting areas that I found useful were the introduction of a new dental implant called American Dental Implant. This implant has taken the best of the implants on the market and improved it in several ways. The advantage to the patient is better dental implant cosmetics by the way of better gum tissue health around the implants. Another interesting area is the introduction of an Apple Ap through Microdental Labs which allows for customized presentations for our patients in the office. As well a way to improve lab communications between the dentist and lab tech.
