New Generation of Porcelain Veneers

New Generation of Porcelain Veneers

Not all porcelain veneers are the same. In fact, there are huge differences in porcelain veneers from the type of porcelain used to the design of the smile. Furthermore, the artistic ability of the cosmetic dentist and ceramist is essential to creating smiles that look great and fit the individual.
Todays dentist who keep up with technology can offer their patient's many different types of veneers. Why different types? Different types of veneers can be used for :
1) Major color change case (dark or tetracycline stain cases)
2) Bite problems and wear
3) Non-prep veneers for certain cases
4) Space closing

Additionally, to ensure that you are comfortable with the skills of your dentists, take a look a close up photos of their work, not full facial photos from a distance. I personally recontour the edges and spaces between the teeth to create a smile that follows the lip line and a patients profile. Are the veneers flat or do they have anatomy to reflect light naturally. The photos above show how the surface anatomy and shapes help create natural and beautiful smiles.

We are able to create whiter veneers that still look lifelike due to surface texture and anatomy. In my experience, patients today are coming to see us, looking for someone who can create a beautiful smile that fits them and is not generic. Each case in our office is totally unique to the individual. Finally, there is a place for non-prep veneers using the new generation of porcelains that can be .3m thin and still create esthetic results. These porcelains are much better than the previous non-prep cases.
