Cosmetic Dentistry and Your Bite

Cosmetic Dentistry and Your Bite

Ever wonder why some people break and chip their front teeth and the dental work that has been done? Many times it is the bite, or the way the teeth meet together with respect to the jaw joint and muscles of your face.

For this reason many people break or wear down their teeth and the new dentistry. How does this relate to cosmetic dentistry? If you are going to have your teeth fixed and there have worn or broken teeth, it is necessary to correct the bite so that the same thing will not happen to the new dentistry. This means ,if you want the cosmetic care to last a long time, it is necessary for the cosmetic dentist to have a profound and deep understanding of the bite and TMJ.

In the photos above, this patient presented with problems of her veneers, crowns, and teeth continuously breaking and coming off. The problem was all related to her bite. We corrected the bite and restored the teeth to the corrected bite.
There is more to cosmetic dentistry than what meets the eye, and your bite and TMJ issues may affect the longevity of your cosmetic care.
If you have any questions with regards to dental care or TMJ issues, please feel free to call, Dr. Ronald W. Konig DDS, FAGD, LVIF, a Houston Cosmetic Dentist and TMJ practitioner. 713-668-2289
